False Positives at AOL Update

Last week Pivotal Veracity reported on a spate of false positives because of a misconfiguration in AOL's filters. We learned today that the problem was finally resolved early this week and that normal delivery has been reestablished. After evaluating spam folder placement across all of our clients we see that it is trending down from a high of over 13% on Monday, October 12th to just over 5% today, Wednesday October 14th.

Marketers should see bulk folder placement for IPs that were previously freely delivering to the inbox return to normal now that all of AOL's servers have been properly configured. For any mailers that continue to receive high or abnormal bulk folder placement Pivotal Veracity advises going through a thorough triage process and evaluating your mailing infrastructure to make sure its in compliance with AOL's Acceptable Use Policies and Terms of Service as listed on their postmaster site. In addition to verifying that all their technical configurations are correct and compliant, marketers should ensure that their email authentication is properly signed and they are enrolled for AOL's feedback loop and actively processing complaints received through that loop.

Sincerely,
 -The PV Support Team
