Cloudmark Insights for 2009

CloudmarkDid you know that Cloudmark protects over 750 million email boxes all over the world? In a recent conversation, Cloudmark shared with us information that will be of value to every marketer in the email space.
  • Some of the ISPs that rely on Cloudmark for spam filtering include: 163.com, Cablevision, Charter, Comcast, Cox, Earthlink, Road Runner, Shaw.com, Swisscom and more.
  • Certain ISPs will list in the email header if you're triggering Cloudmark filtering. Review your headers to see if you can find X-Cloudmark-Score: 100
  • Millions of users all over the world feed Cloudmark's fingerprinting engine by voting on an email's spamminess. Once a message is identified as spam a finger print is created and stored to match future emails against.
  • Cloudmark "fingerprints" emails by creating models of them based on identifying criteria culled from the header, body content and HTML code. Small changes to content or HTML will not be enough to make an email slip below the radar.
  • According to Cloudmark, spammers have become increasingly more crafty and attempting to fly below the radar sending smaller amounts and modulating their connection rates and lengths.
  • Cloudmark is working hard on identifying legitimate senders and their IPs to ensure that ISP customers are receiving wanted marketing communications. IP reputation and previous mailing history are playing a large part in the delivery of these legitimate messages.

PV strives to bridge the gap between our clients, partners and ISPs through education and knowledgeable application of industry agreed upon best practices. Why guess when you can have the industry expert as your provider.
