You've heard it here first: 2010 will be the year that *true* mobile marketing takes off...

The iPhone is the most popular consumer electonics hardware in history (Mary Meeker of Morgan Stanley recently produced the evidence at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco), and has set off a competitive wave that is bringing the best of the rich media, high-speed World Wide Web (and even more with unique mobile apps, etc.) to peoples' handhelds with the introductions of Droid, Palm Pre and other cool new devices that assuredly are on the way.

Pivotal Veracity has been tracking an intermittent problem occuring when attempting to access email that lands in the Yahoo! Mail Spam folder. Messages have been inaccessable off and on during the past hour. When attempting to access a message that has landed in the spam folder the following popup has been seen:

Today, October 30th, ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names & Numbers has anounced and approved the creation of domain names in non-latin based characters. According to industry sources this is the biggest change to the global internet since its birth in the labratory 40 years ago!

We recently published some Stats for Thought about consumers' skyrocketing adoption of smart phones and how this trend is fundamentally changing the art and science of email marketing.Well, it seems that with each day that passes we come across more and more juicy bits of information that only further solidify the case that the day when more people open and interact with email on a handheld than any other device is soon approaching--and probably a lot faster than any of us previously imagined.

The mobile handset market is evolving at a rapid tempo; Because the cost of smart phones, the most robust and powerful of the mobile market, is falling almost as quickly as the companies are innovating, the rate of adoption is skyrocketing. More powerful handsets mean more people accessing email on their mobile devices. More varied devices means there are more challenges for email marketers than ever to getting email to render correctly and as intended. In order to achieve the most similar rendering across the greatest number of mobile email handsets and OS's marketers should keep the following in mind:

Earlier this week we announced the additions of Google's Android, the Palm Pre and social networking giant MySpace's new webmail service to our eDesign Optimizer (making us the first and only provider to do so, and further distinguishing Pivotal Veracity as the clear industry leader). We did this to address two major trends that are rocking the email marketing world: First, the skyrocketing consumer adoption of mobile smartphones; and second, the increasing convergence and blurring boundaries between email and social networking.

Pivotal Veracity personnel learned today that Yahoo!'s feedback loop processing had been temporarily suspended last week.

Last week Pivotal Veracity reported on a spate of false positives because of a misconfiguration in AOL's filters. We learned today that the problem was finally resolved early this week and that normal delivery has been reestablished. After evaluating spam folder placement across all of our clients we see that it is trending down from a high of over 13% on Monday, October 12th to just over 5% today, Wednesday October 14th.
